Welcome Back · 2026–27 school year

Message from our President & Principal

Dear Holy Name Students and Families,

Welcome back parents and students!

We’ve been preparing for this moment all summer, and we are truly excited to begin the 2026–27 school year. Our freshmen brought the halls back to life during orientation this week, and on Monday, we can’t wait to welcome everyone home.

This year, we’re beginning a new tradition with an annual theme. For 2026–27, that theme is BELIEVE. It reflects our faith in the students entrusted to our care, in who they are becoming, and in their ability to lead Cleveland’s future. You’ll see BELIEVE come to life throughout the year.

This issue includes everything you need for the first week, including reminders of our drop-off and pick-up procedures. Please take two minutes to review them before Monday.

Thank you for entrusting your students to Holy Name. We can’t wait to begin an incredible year together!

All Hail Holy Name,
Shelbrey Blanc '95President

Morning drop-off: pull all the way forward

Pull up as far as you can before your student gets out. It keeps the line moving.

Once you enter the drop-off zone, pull all the way forward before stopping and have your student get out right away. Please do not stop in front of the door. Every car that pulls forward keeps the line moving for the cars behind you.

New this year: before 7:45 and after dismissal

Students arriving before 7:45 AM report to the cafeteria. After dismissal, supervision is in the cafeteria until 4:10 PM.

Two small changes this year. Students on campus before the 7:45 AM bell go directly to the cafeteria. Students who stay on campus after dismissal report to the cafeteria, where supervision is provided until 4:10 PM. Students are expected to leave campus by 4:10 PM unless they are engaged in an extracurricular activity or sport and under the direct supervision of an adult. Full uniform is expected from the first day.

How afternoon pick-up works

Load at the curb and pull away. If you need to wait, use one of the lots. Please read this before Monday.

To keep dismissal safe and quick, pick-up works like an airport curb. Stop, load, and go, about 10 seconds, on the school side of the circle only. If your student is not out yet, please do not wait at the curb. Circle around or park in one of the waiting areas (Layor Drive & Queens Highway on the east side, Faculty Lots 1 and 2, or the Student Lot) and your student will walk to you.

School dismisses at 2:32 PM. The rush lasts about 15–20 minutes. If you arrive after 3:00 PM there is usually no wait at all. Bus lanes, emergency lanes, driveways, and entrances must stay clear at all times.

BELIEVE: our theme for 2026–27

Holy Name is starting an annual theme this year. The first one is about forming Cleveland’s next generation of leaders.

Cleveland’s next generation of leaders is already sitting in classrooms across Northeast Ohio. They are the future teachers, nurses, business owners, engineers, first responders, artists, coaches, and public servants who will decide what comes next for the region. Academics are part of it. We also want to send out young people with faith, a habit of hard work, real ties to their community, and the grit to keep going. That is what BELIEVE, our first annual theme, is about. It launched this week.

Freshmen and seniors: Meningococcal ACWY vaccine proof

Ohio law requires proof of the Meningococcal ACWY vaccination for students entering 7th and 12th grade. Freshmen and seniors, please upload it in FinalForms. Seniors are due Monday, Aug 24.

Seniors need two doses, with the second given on or after their 16th birthday. One dose is enough if the first was given on or after their 16th birthday. Freshmen need proof of the Meningococcal ACWY vaccination given on or after their 10th birthday, uploaded to the PPE section of FinalForms along with their physical. Students who do not meet the requirement cannot attend school. Please check your student’s immunization record now and schedule a healthcare appointment if needed.

State scholarship documents

Acceptance letters, the limited power of attorney for 9th-grade families, and any missing application pieces all go to FinalForms.

The state has awarded scholarships for the 2026–27 school year and sent acceptance letters by mail. Please sign your acceptance letter and upload it to FinalForms. If yours has not arrived yet, the Cleveland and EdChoice acceptance letters are available in FinalForms.

All 9th-grade parents and guardians should also complete the limited power of attorney, which allows Holy Name to sign the monthly tuition checks the state sends.

If you have not yet submitted your state scholarship documents (application and proof of address), please upload them immediately so your application can be processed. The applications are in FinalForms. Choose the one that applies to you. Questions: Mrs. Kynslee Pearrell ’01, kpearrell@holynamehs.com.

Yard signs for our AP 5s

Holy Name students earned 29 top scores of 5 on this year’s AP exams. The signs are going up.

This summer we delivered a yard sign to every student who scored a 5, the highest possible score, on an AP exam. Across the school, 62 exams came back with a 4 or 5, and nearly 9 in 10 of our AP students scored a 3 or higher. These results reflect the hard work of our students and the dedication of the faculty who teach AP courses: Liliana Andrei, Kathy Craider, Mike Lally, Anthony Ward, Holly White, and Mitch Zehe.

AP families, thank you for sending photos of your students with their signs. Keep them coming. Reply to the AP families email with a photo, and with your permission we may share it on Holy Name’s social media or website. We are proud of these students and love seeing their faces next to their signs.
